HISTORY
Rise Up Basketball was founded in 2021 by Cass Rufus—a father, coach, and dedicated educator with over two decades of experience working with youth. Since 2001, Rufus has been passionate about teaching and mentoring young people, fostering growth both on and off the court.
Inspired by his vision of a relationship-centered basketball program, Cass established Rise Up Basketball to empower young women to pursue their dreams and compete at the highest levels. His approach focuses not only on athletic excellence but also on building character, confidence, and lasting connections.
In addition to his work as a coach, Cass has been an elementary school teacher for 21 years, where he continues to inspire and educate young minds. Residing in Elmhurst, Illinois, he is a proud father to three daughters, whose own journeys fuel his commitment to creating opportunities for the next generation of female athletes. Rise Up Basketball stands as a testament to his unwavering dedication to youth development and his belief in the transformative power of sports.
WHY RISE?
Experience – 21 years serving the Illinois youth girls basketball circuit.
Relationship – 21 years serving the Illinois youth girls basketball circuit.
It was clear to me from the start that building relationships is the most essential way to increase performance. Heart, passion, and determination will win you more games than the X's and O's. You will create a team that embraces hardship, believes in great personal character, and strives to elevate one another instead of solely for their own gain.
